Editorial policy

Insights is written by sslcertificates.io Engineering & Editorial. We do not invent named experts or credentials. This page explains how articles are sourced, reviewed, corrected and illustrated.

Who writes this

Articles are produced by the engineering and editorial staff that also operate the sslcertificates.io certificate lifecycle platform. The byline is the desk, not a fictional practitioner. If a named author is added later, the bio will be a real person with a real role.

Source hierarchy

  1. Standards and RFCs, including the CA/Browser Forum TLS Baseline Requirements and IETF ACME documents.
  2. Browser and root-program documentation.
  3. Certificate authority official technical documentation.
  4. IETF drafts, labelled as drafts until they are not.
  5. Cloud and provider official documentation for a named integration.
  6. Independent technical research, with attribution.
  7. Vendor research, only with attribution and never as the sole source of a standards fact.
  8. Community sources for lived operational pain, not for policy numbers.

SEO blogs are not used for standards facts when a primary source exists.

Technical review and fact checking

Standards-sensitive drafts stay in an internal scheduled_needs_review state. They are re-checked against primary sources immediately before publication. Fact-check timestamps are kept in the CMS for editors. They are not shown on the public article page. A topic-planning window is also internal; it is not public metadata.

Corrections and updates

The visible Published date is the day the article first became public. Updated appears only after a substantive change to the analysis or the facts. Typo fixes do not change the date. If a standards number or date was wrong, we correct the article and update the date. Send corrections to info@sslcertificates.io.

Product references

sslcertificates.io may appear as one possible solution where the product actually does the work described. Articles are written to remain useful if you never create an account. We do not describe the platform as a sandbox or a pre-production product. Test and Live are customer issuance environments: Test uses official Let’s Encrypt Staging; Live uses official Let’s Encrypt Production.

We do not invent live integration coverage. A connector that is not available as a managed product is omitted or described as not currently available.

AI assistance

Drafting tools may be used for research collation and copy editing. Every published article is reviewed by a human editor against primary sources before it is public. The desk remains accountable for the finished text.

Image licensing

Hero images are original sslcertificates.io technical illustrations unless a caption says otherwise. Original diagrams are hosted on this site; we do not hotlink stock libraries. When an external image is used, we persist the source, author, license, download time and alt text, and we render attribution when the license requires it. Provenance is kept even when attribution is not required.
